Reproductive Health

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy can help improve your reproductive health by regulating your menstrual cycle, stimulating proper ovulation, and promoting healthy cervical mucus. It can also improve egg quality, increase uterine blood flow, thicken the uterine lining, increase sperm count as well as promoting healthy sperm morphology (shape) & motility (movement).

Fertility / IVF Patients

If you are doing IVF or IUI, we perform a specialized treatment within 24 hours before your embryo transfer or IUI, and again 3 to 5 days later. These appointments are held in our office.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine alone or in conjunction with ART can be used to:

  • Regulate menstrual cycle

  • Stimulate proper ovulation

  • Promote healthy cervical mucus

  • Improve egg quality

  • Increase uterine blood flow

  • Thicken uterine lining

  • Increase sperm count

  • Promote healthy sperm morphology (shape) & motility (movement)

Pregnancy Care

When you become pregnant, we highly recommend that treatment continue through the 12th week of pregnancy, after which we will shift to monthly visits. The patients who attend weekly sessions up to the 12th week and beyond, have a lower rate of miscarriage and generally feel better than those who do not, so we strongly recommend this. The monthly sessions after that are designed to keep you on track through the pregnancy and make sure we can proactively address any issues that might arise.

Treatments can help with:

  • Acute or chronic pain during pregnancy, labour and following birth (e.g. pelvic pain, leg cramps, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, joint pain, neck/back pain, headaches / migraines)

  • Pregnancy-related nausea

  • Symptomatic relief of swelling in ankles, hands, etc…

  • Constipation during pregnancy

  • Insomnia

  • Babies in breech position

  • Pregnancy-induced hypertension

  • Pregnancy-induced diabetes

Birth prep

At 36 weeks we highly recommend our birth prep protocol. You’ll come weekly again with the goal of promoting relaxation, relieving nervous tension, and supporting your body’s progression into full labour. Patients who choose this option generally have less inductions and C-Sections and report a smoother labor process (although we can’t guarantee any specific results).

Treatments can assist with:

  • Labour induction

  • Cervical ripening

  • Delayed, prolonged, stalled labour

  • Pain

Postnatal Care

Follow-ups after delivery are also very important for you and your baby. Ask your practitioner for the best treatment option for you. Acupuncture and Laser Therapy are very effective in helping you regain your vitality, so you can enjoy every single moment with your family. This is also valid for the other parent, who might need an energy boost or help with the quality of sleep.

Treatments can be used to help with:

  • Postpartum bleeding

  • Pain relief and recovery (e.g. from cesarian section, other surgery, sub-dural headache)

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Insufficient lactation (usually in combination with Chinese herbs in pill/tea form)

  • Blocked ducts and mastitis (usually in combination with Chinese herbs in pill/tea form)

  • Postpartum depression, anxiety

Hormonal / Peri-menopausal / Menopausal Care

Throughout the stages of your reproductive cycle, many hormonal fluctuations can occur. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been used for millenia to help regulate cycles, ease transitional stages, and support you through the stages of menopause commonly known as your “second spring”.
